Our Club has a wide range of events:
Monthly Events
Wednesday Runs
The Wednesday Run is normally held on the third Wednesday of each month and goes to locations within either the Goulburn Valley or the Murray Valley. A visit to a place of interest is usually included. The run will visit either a local bakery, cafe or maybe a BYO picnic for morning tea and a chat before travelling to a pre-arranged local hotel or club for lunch and more chat. Morning tea venues have included Mooroopna, Lake Mokoan, Girgarre, Echuca and Nathalia while lunch venues have included Murchison, Benalla, Lockington, Moama and Barmah.
Advance notice of Wednesday Runs is given on this website, in the Club's Drivers Journal and at the Club's general meetings. Vehicles usually travel in convoy, departing from a nominated spot on the outskirts of Shepparton.
Weekend Runs
Our Club usually promotes or organizes weekend activities. These are often associated with other motoring groups, for example, Winton Historic Race Meet, Federation Picnic at Wunghnu (machinery and cars), Federation Picnic at Marong and the AHMF's National Motoring Heritage Day. Weekend events also include the Club's Red Plate Day (see below) plus typically shorter runs to encourage members to bring out their older "running board" vehicles.
Advance notice of Weekend Runs is given on this website, in the Club's Drivers Journal and at the Club's general meetings.
Saturday Social Day
Saturday Social Day is organised by the Social Group Subcommittee and is held on the third Saturday of the month. It is a Club lunch held at either at the clubrooms or a local Shepparton venue, such as the Shepparton RSL or the Peppercorn Hotel. When held at the clubrooms, entry is $2.00 (for the door raffle) and it is preferred that you bring a plate such as a salad. All members are welcome.
Ladies Lunch
Lady members of the Club are welcome to meet for a lunch every second month. The lunch is at a local Shepparton venue such as the Shepparton Club or the Shepparton RSL
Annual Events
Twilight in Nathalia
The lawns on the banks of the Broken Creek in Nathalia are the club's traditional mid-January meeting spot. Members bring the makings of their evening meal and drinks, and BBQ facilities are available. Picnic chairs, eskies and a small table will assist your enjoyment.
This has to be one of our best events to enjoy a good talk with others in wonderful Aussie surrounds. It makes 4pm till dusk a must attend event in January each year.
Christmas in July
The Clubs annual Christmas in July involves either a weekend away with a Christmas in July dinner or a Sunday run to a suitable venue for lunch. Both offer the opportunity for a chat and frivolity withfellow club members.
Club Christmas BBQ and Concours
The Clubs annual Christmas gathering and Concours is held at the Grahamvale Primary School each December. A BBQ lunch is provided and members cars are judged and awards presented. These include the Barry Collison Trophy for people's choice, the John Stewart Memorial Trophy for best presented vehicle, the Dusty Shaw Memorial Trophy for best individual effort, the John Hill Trophy for best motorcycle and the Rolls Royce Perpetual Trophy for club member of the year.
Australia Day
A long standing tradition for the Club is to participate in the Australia Day celebrations in Mooroopna. Organised by the Kiwanis Club of Mooroopna, the parade is followed by a free sausage sizzle and drinks in Ferrari Park.
Red Plate Day
The Club's annual Red Plate Day is held in February at the property of members John and Jenny Grieve. This is a great opportunity to put your club car over the pit and have it inspected by qualified professionals
National Motoring Heritage Day
Members are invited to display their vehicles to mark the National Motoring Heritage Day, to raise awareness of the veteran, vintage and classic movement within Australia and to raise money to support the Peter Mac Foundation.
The Annual Rally
The Club organises an Annual Rally of 10 to 14 days duration. Destinations vary and have included Tasmania, Canberra, New South Wales and the Bay to Birdswood Rally in South Australia.
The Rally of the Valley is a three-day event held over the Melbourne Cup long weekend. First held in 1985, this event was held firstly bi-annually and in later years tri-annually, the East Gippsland and West Gippsland Clubs holding events in other years. This event is open to all Veteran, Vintage and Classic vehicles and attracts a good following.
